Elizabeth Update

Elizabeth being Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is being Elizabeth these days.  She is a growing, happy, toddler of 2 and sometimes all that 2 implies too.  Here are a few things going on with her these days.

• Elizabeth is getting very opinionated (I have no idea where she gets that ;)), loves picking out which socks and diaper she is going to wear when we get dressed in the morning.  Recently her favorite diaper character is Ernie.  It use to be Elmo.  I guess it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind.
• Her favorite color at the moment appears to be purple.
• She still loves the movie, "Monsters, Inc" but is just as willing and wants to watch Sesame Street too.  Elizabeth's favorite characters are Elmo and Abby.  But she has recently started talking about Ernie more, thus the diaper from bullet one.
• Words, words, and sentences.  Elizabeth has always babbled but words have been a little more elusive for us.  This is probably due to the ear infections she had her first year.  Tubes have been a saviour for us.  In her garbled way, her favorite question to ask is "What is that?"  We tell her and she tries to repeat what we have told her.
• Lawnmowers--we say this word--a lot--as Elizabeth hates them.  They scare her...so does the vacuum cleaner.  Needless to say, she is always on the lookout to find them.
• Total Daddy's girl.  Daddy is her preferred parent.  While Sean loves that adoration, it is at times very inconvenient to be the preferred parent.  I ALMOST have sympathy for him.  :)
• Elizabeth loves to eat--oh dear--but usually choose to eat her fruit and veggies before anything else.  She already eats more types of fruit and vegetables than I do.  I am so proud.  Her only food aversions appear to be mushrooms and some condiments.  Of course she loves carbs....how could she not with Sean and me as her parents.
• Elizabeth loves the playground, particularly the slide.  The higher the better too.
• Elizabeth still loves her books and every morning brings out a few in her classroom to show me.
• Speaking of school, Elizabeth moved into a new classroom about a month ago and is thriving.  Her teachers tell me all the time what a great listener she is.  I laugh and say, well, we have excellent selective hearing at home then!
• Elizabeth, while one of the youngest in her class, is also one of the tallest kids in her class.  Who knows, maybe we will have a super model one day.
• Elizabeth is showing interest in the potty, but we have yet to actually do anything in it.  It is set up, ready to go and we even attempted potty training this past weekend.  We did not get very far as she is not making the connection between needing to go and going on the potty.  After several times of taking her off the potty and her peeing every where 5 minutes later, we said, let's give it a little more time.  Well get there...and hopefully soon as Mommy and Daddy are tired of paying for diapers!
• Every morning we have to put on lipstick with Mommy.  It's really lip balm, but a crucial part of our getting ready in the morning.
• Elizabeth loves babies.  She always points them out and likes to play with the baby dolls at school. 
• And finally, she is a girl after her Daddy's heart....she ASKS to watch hockey.  Oh, don't you know that melts Sean's heart....  Who knows what we are going to do when the Stanley Cup is over.
